first heard of this word from a friend...i think it is the best word to describe how i'm feeling lately.
so what is saudade? read on...
SAUDADE...a feeling of longing for something you are fond of, which is gone, but can eventually return in a distant future. It often carries a fatalist tone and a repressed knowledge that the object of longiness might really never return.
it is like nostalgia but with the hope that what is being longed for might return, even if that return is unlikely or so distant in the future to be almost of no consequence to the present.
You've given me beautiful memories to look back to
Through you I've learned to open my heart once more
I'm letting go, uncertain if our paths will ever meet again
If we're meant to be, God will bring us together
If not, moments I shared with you will always be in my heart
Thank you for special memories
The famous saudade of the Portuguese is a vague and constant desire for something that does not and probably cannot exist, for something other than the present, a turning towards the past or towards the future; not an active discontent or poignant sadness but an indolent dreaming wistfulness
