Was watching one of my fave flicks last night-50 First Dates. I've seen it like dozens of times already but even so it has never failed to make me laugh and feel good. Adam Sandler plus Drew Barrymore equals a hilarious and romantic film that you'd love to watch over and over again. Remember Lucy's condition-Goldfield's syndrome? It is only a fictional mental condition which limits short term memory to a 24 hour period; a condition where the mind cannot translate a person's short term memory into long term memory. (i hope i explained that correctly).
Don't you sometimes wish you had Goldfield's syndrome? especially when you feel like everything starts to crumble and nothing seems to go right...you can just wake up the following morning and never have any memory of what has transpired the previous day- no worries, anxiety, no hang-ups; your slate gets wiped clean while you sleep and you just forget about that bad feeling, that embarassing moment, and that humiliating incident you managed to get yourself into. You wake up each day and start anew, you embrace each sunrise and look forward to a brand new day, you feel a rush of anticipation and excitement and wonder about what the day holds for you...but that's all too convenient right? In real life, you have to deal with the past, live in the present, and prepare for the future-all at the same time. That's why it happens only in the movies.
